The IAMCP has partnered with the Foshan China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation in a quest to accelerate the development of intelligent manufacturing in Foshan. The initiative was developed through a high-level meeting at the Artificial and Intelligent Manufacturing International Cooperation and Development Conference, jointly hosted by: China Association of Inventions, Investment Promotion Bureau of Commerce, Guangdong Science and Technology Department and the Municipal Government of Foshan as part of an initiative to drive smart manufacturing in China.

Located in central Guangdong Province, Foshan is well recognized as a key advanced manufacturing hub with a solid track record in adopting sophisticated technologies. Currently, Foshan is consolidating its position by gradually transforming into an intelligent manufacturing demonstration zone. As a host city, Foshan will formally assume the role of an intelligence hub that showcases China's advanced manufacturing capabilities to the world.

IAMCP in China

Last July, the IAMCP GCR (Greater China Region) chapter was launched with support from Microsoft.

“We’re very excited about the new GCR Chapter of IAMCP and the enormous new opportunities it will bring to our partners in the region. With stronger-than-ever connections and an evolving partner ecosystem, the IAMCP GCR Chapter will bring our partners together to foster collaboration and the exchange of best practice expertise to capture more business opportunities. We believe our partners are well-placed to innovate, grow and succeed in and beyond the region,” said Alain Crozier, Corporate Vice President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Greater China Region (GCR).

Aldous Ng, Chairman of IAMCP GCR said: "As a member of Microsoft Global Partner Alliance, IAMCP encompasses a diverse ecosystem of partners in intelligent manufacturing, underpinned with programs for skill learning and enablement. We hope that the establishment of IAMCP Intelligent Manufacturing Solution Center can deepen our collaborations with Foshan, offering market opportunities for domestic solutions while attracting partners to join the IAMCP community."

As the champion of Foshan's intelligent manufacturing, Foshan China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation will sign a multi-party cooperation memorandum with IAMCP, One Country Two Systems Research Institute and other stakeholders to propel smart manufacturing initiatives in China. The participating parties will gather momentum for the use of artificial intelligence to drive the growth of smart manufacturing in Foshan, GBA and national scale projects.

Foshan China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation noted, "This joint intelligent manufacturing strategic cooperation agreement will foster the transition of Foshan into an intelligent manufacturing hub.  It will not only enhance smart manufacturing in Foshan, but also create a value chain in the intelligent manufacturing ecosystem. In addition, the establishment of the IAMCP Intelligent Manufacturing Solution Center will introduce state-of-the-art solutions to local manufacturers, developing best practices for manufacturing in Foshan and GBA by harnessing the support of stakeholders such as One Country Two Systems Research Institute (OCTS)."

The Chief Executive of OCTS Research Institute based in Hong Kong SAR, Mr. CK Cheung, has been running the think tank for more than 15 years while witnessing the flourishing of local economy after Hong Kong’s handover to China.

"Intelligent manufacturing has a pivotal role for China to grow its comprehensive national power. I hope this cooperation will build a platform for collaboration between the mainland and Hong Kong to elevate our smart manufacturing to a new height.  Once again, it highlights our synergy forged together under One Country Two Systems framework. Eventually, our effort will create a brighter future for both China and Hong Kong," said Mr. Cheung.

The objective is for Foshan to come to the forefront, driving intelligent manufacturing technology in China and becoming a role model in the region. It is also a common aspiration that this cooperation can further the modernization of industry in China.

OCTS is a think tank specializing in Hong Kong's public policy. After the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1997, the focus of the research has shifted to the major social and economic issues facing Hong Kong's internal operations, and the economy of Hong Kong and the Mainland and neighboring regions.
