Connecting and Empowering Women to Transform the Technology Industry

At IAMCP WIT, we understand the challenges women face as they pursue careers in an industry that’s all too often dominated by male voices. Most of us have encountered barriers, some we’ve overcome and some are too big to address individually.

Together, we’ve built a strong network of global communities where women can collaborate, support and empower each other to do amazing things that change the world.
Supported by Microsoft and the IAMCP, we hope to inspire girls to dream of roles in technology and help women thrive in the industry, without doubting they belong there.

Half the people on the planet are women and their purchase power is growing. Embracing diversity in decision-making, product design and customer engagement is the only way to serve a diverse population with relevance. Creating opportunity for a group as large and multifaceted as the Microsoft partner ecosystem requires a multitude of viewpoints and experiences informing every decision and business. Without diversity – in all its forms – at the top, you run the risk of serving a very narrow slice of the population.

Who We Are

WIT is a community of professionals across the world that believe in making it easier for women to imagine, begin and develop a career in IT. We are supported by the IAMCP, with over 80 chapters in over 40 countries, that provides a vast and varied network of events, contacts and opportunities.

Our wider WIT community is made of many smaller communities across the world that work locally to support women who work in the world of technology. Hosting a variety of events throughout the year IAMCP WIT is focused on networking, leadership development, community outreach and personal improvement.

Although it comes under the umbrella of the IAMCP, there is a membership option that doesn’t require being a Microsoft partner. There is also an open invitation for anybody that believes in what we do, to attend local meetings and events before pursuing membership.

Anyone can achieve anything they set their mind to. It’s all about following your ambitions and not letting anyone tell you what you can or cannot do…We have to start at the apprenticeship level if we are to have an impact on gender diversity and inclusion longer-term.

Our Ambition

Despite big steps forward over the last decade, the gender gap remains a significant problem and there is still much to be done to attract, retain and promote women in technology.

Our ambition is to change the culture of the industry, so women aren’t expected to apologise, explain or prove themselves - they just show up and excel, knowing they belong.

Together we work tirelessly to achieve this by building our global community ethically, honestly and courageously. And through ongoing commitment to our outreach activities.

There is an active, skilled, seasoned, disparate Microsoft channel community in South Africa with incredible women doing incredible things; things that are not perhaps adequately showcased. IAMCP WIT is the perfect platform to communicate, inspire and develop the potential in others to achieve.

Our Goals

To connect the creative, innovative and hardworking women in the Microsoft ecosystem for the purpose of:

Building a global community of like-minded women who meet regularly.

Providing mutual support to others to achieve professional and personal goals.

Increasing the number of young women pursuing careers in technology.

Growing opportunities for women working at every level of the industry.

Scaling our reach to empower the women across the world who need it most.

IAMCP WIT is the most powerful and innovative independent organization in the Microsoft channel today. With Microsoft’s direct support our astronomical growth (from 3 to 50 communities in under three years) is due to the energy, commitment and drive of our IAMCP WIT community leaders and members. By sharing ideas, highlighting our individual and collaborative strengths, and challenging the status-quo we are supporting women all over the world. Our laser-focus is locked on enabling all of our members to reach their full potential in their careers, build powerful networks and accelerate growth in their businesses. If you are a woman working within the Microsoft ecosystem join us and make a difference for yourself, your colleagues, your customers and your partners.

Our Passions
Inclusivity. Unity. Respect.

Passionate about diversity we have created an inclusive environment where everybody feels welcome and valued. This means treating each individual and their ideas with respect.

We understand that not all women across the world will face the same challenges. That’s why we’re committed to supporting women from all nations and raising awareness of issues they are facing - with local teams growing and managing their individual communities.

We also understand that bias and discrimination aren’t just confined to gender. We aim to tackle inequality in a way that includes people from all backgrounds.

Community. Support. Charity.

We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.

Malala Yousafzai,
Activist for female education and youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate

We believe that our greatest asset is our strength as a community of women who support and teach each other. United, we can challenge inequality in every corner of the world.

Each of us has the power to change lives and we are committed to making a positive impact by giving back to charities that reflect our belief of improving the lives of others.

Empowerment. Education. Awareness.

It’s a fact that women are underrepresented at every level in technology. We are changing this by empowering women and girls everywhere to pursue and advance careers in IT.

It starts with education and creating awareness, from showcasing female role models and amazing tech jobs to providing mentorship programmes that help develop careers and bridge the gender-gap into management.

Integrity. Honesty. Transparency.

We believe that the best way to achieve success is to be as open as possible with our work and what we’re trying to accomplish.

By holding each other accountable for our actions, we ensure the global community is wholly empowered to serve its membership.

For me IAMCP WIT is not just about women. It’s about our whole society and the need for us to build modern businesses that support people of all talents and at all stages in their career, regardless of gender, age, culture, religion or sexual preference. Not everyone we sell to is the same. Without diversity businesses develop very narrow propositions that can impact growth and stability.
