Engage, Learn and Share with IAMCP in 2016

It is my privilege to welcome you to the first newsletter of 2016. January is the time to look ahead at the coming year and I have to say I am very excited about our direction.

I have been part of IAMCP since 2009. I first joined the Dutch chapter and later served on the EMEA Board. I am now honoured to be starting my service on the International Board of IAMCP and continuing the work to grow and strengthen our organization.

The fast pace of change we face with business opportunities is both daunting and exhilarating. The number of business topics we need to keep up with expands daily and, as always, time is a coveted resource. I believe that IAMCP's role in this environment becomes even more critical as it helps us learn, share, and grow.

Learning and sharing with each other through IAMCP creates a level of trust that no other partner ecosystem in the industry can match. A nice bonus is that time is essentially created when we do this sharing right.

I anticipate that we will find new ways to learn from each other across regions and internationally. We will adapt the way we run our chapters and events accordingly to work on our common challenges. In keeping with the theme of learning from each other, I encourage you to review the position paper that the IAMCP Portugal chapter presented to the Government of Portugal recently. It is an example of how the Microsoft Partner community is bringing innovative ideas to a broad stakeholder group resulting in a strong economic impact.

Another innovation can be seen in how we approach events. We will look for more opportunities for group collaboration and hands-on experiences as ways to keep our members motivated and involved. One great example is the next edition of the pan-European app competition (http://www.appcup.eu/) being planned for June. Participants are invited to use imagination, passion, and technological skill to create applications.

IAMCP is a wonderful, international organization that helps Microsoft partners realize growth. The net effect of our world-class model for collaboration is twofold: an increase in our speed of sales and gaining precious business insight. Now that is a reason for excitement about IAMCP and 2016!

I want to welcome partner trust it to the IAMCP Community as our very first new member of 2016!

On the topic of new members, I encourage each of you to recruit and engage them to be involved, share, and learn. More members makes all of us better and our collective voice stronger.

Economic Impact and IAMCP Leadership

For an interesting idea on engaging government stakeholders, check out the ICT Framework position paper that IAMCP Portugal developed and recently presented to government officials in that country.

Using data from 1000 Microsoft partners, the paper highlights the economic opportunity to develop people, policies, infrastructure, and the education system to position Portugal as a nearshoring destination for the European Community. As evidence of the potential and challenges to be addressed, IAMCP Partners Arquiconsult, cleverti, ITEN, and myPartner are highlighted for their success.
