Microsoft are now introducing new modern MPN Competencies

Today we are learning about Microsoft’s refresh of the MPN Competencies. Twelve Competencies are to be retired and replaced with new Competencies that are more customer and cloud focused.

My take on this is that Microsoft are simplifying for Partners and for customers. At the same time, they are sending a strong message to the ecosystem.

The message is that the world has changed and customers are today buying solutions in a new and more modern way. For the Partners that transition their businesses and become more cloud oriented, there is a big and open Milky Way of opportunities.

For many Partners, the transition from older Competencies to more modern ones will much better reflect their current business as they have already made the change. Congrats to us!

But for some Partners, this is yet another signal that they need to evolve. There is plenty of time as Microsoft are making this announcement today - but Partners will have more than 18 months to make the transition to the new Competencies so there is no immediate hurry.

On www.mpnevolution.com you can see if your Competencies are affected, and what the requirements are for the new Competencies. You will notice that in general it will be slightly less about certifications and more about proving your success.

My advice is that Partners take the opportunity of the new way of providing IT solutions and that they build a plan to transition to a cloud based annuity based business model. The IAMCP is here to help and to guide you all the way – we will talk about this in online webinars and in our local membership meetings.

The rewards of becoming a more modern Partner and more relevant in the eyes of customers are many, and can, on a very high level, be summarized into higher profits, higher growth and much less projection to swings in the economy.

Pretty easy choice if you ask me!
