IAMCP Women in Technology

“IAMCP WIT is the most powerful and innovative independent organisation in the Microsoft channel today.  With Microsoft’s direct support, our astronomical growth (from 3 to almost 50 communities in under three years) is due to the energy, commitment and drive of our IAMCP WIT community leaders and members.  By sharing ideas, highlighting our individual and collaborative strengths, and challenging the status-quo, we are supporting women all over the world.  Our laser-focus is locked on enabling all of our members to reach their full potential in their careers, build powerful networks and accelerate growth in their businesses.  If you are a woman working within the Microsoft ecosystem, join us and make a difference for yourself, your colleagues, your customers and your partners”

- Christine Bongard, Global IAMCP WIT Chairperson

Welcome to IAMCP’s Women in Technology (WIT). As a member of IAMCP, you are automatically a part of this worldwide, dynamic and fast growing community that supports the success of women in the Microsoft eco-system. Join IAMCP here.

Consider the following facts about the Gender Gap in the Technology sector:

  • By 2020, the US Department of Labor predicts that 1.4 million jobs will be created in computing related fields. At current rates, women educated in the US will fill just 3%.
  • In 1984, women earned 37% of all computer science bachelor’s degrees, but today that number has plummeted to 12%.
  • Women make 85% of all consumer purchases, yet represent just 25% of the computing workforce.

At the same time, smart companies understand that diversity is good for business. Gender diversity introduces innovation which fuels better business, builds stronger relationships and increases profitability. According to Catalyst, businesses with more women on the board and in leadership positions have stronger financial performance and higher returns on equity and sales.

As a result, organizations are developing policies and programs directed at hiring and nurturing female talent. Supporting creative, innovative and hardworking women in Microsoft and the Microsoft Partner Channel, is exactly what IAMCP WIT is about. We do that by:

  • Providing mutual support to achieve professional and personal goals
  • Attracting and retaining women into careers in information technology
  • Building a community of like-minded women who meet through the year and annually at WPC

Making a Difference:

As a community, IAMCP WIT is passionate about leveraging the power of global relationships, collaboration and networking to build a strong eco-system of women. We value diversity and foster a trusting, open and inclusive environment treating each person with respect. We believe that each of us has the power to change lives and we will use every interaction as an opportunity to make a positive impact and that includes our community involvement and volunteerism.

As proof positive, WIT communities around the globe are involved in encouraging young women to consider careers in Information Technology by dedicated time and effort to programs such as DigiGirlz, Girls Who Code, Students 2 Business (S2B) and YouthSpark.

WIT communities also form strategic connections with organizations like Women in Technology International (WITI) and The Gates Foundation to strengthen the impact we can make.

Generous beyond time and effort, the IAMCP WIT community regularly sponsors charities dedicated to helping others. In fact, at this past Microsoft Worldwide Conference, the annual charity luncheon raised over $15,000 in support of Year Up, an organization empowering low-income young adults to go from poverty to professional careers in a single year.

“WIT has expanded my professional network and opened up opportunities for my company with partners and clients. I’ve benefited from the professional development webcasts and in person meetings, I’ve increased my support system and I’ve made some great new friends!”

- Christine Bongard, IAMCP WIT Chair
